What that means in practice

  • No account

No email, no password, no “continue with” anything. Where something has to be remembered, the link itself is the key — you hold it, we can’t sell it, and there is no user table to breach.

  • No ads, no tracking

No analytics scripts, no third-party requests, no consent banner to dismiss. This page loads two stylesheets from this domain and zero lines of JavaScript.

  • No premium tier

Not a promise we could quietly break in eighteen months. Most of these tools run entirely on your device and cost nothing per user, so there is no cost for a paywall to recover.

  • No lock-in

Everything exports in an open format, on demand, at no cost. If Freeify disappears tomorrow you keep your data — and the source stays available to run yourself.

Why these tools

Most consumer software paywalls are not paying for anything. A résumé builder lets you write the whole document and then charges to download it — the work is already done, the marginal cost is zero, and the lock is pure leverage. A bill-splitting app rations how many expenses you may type in per day.

Some paywalls are honest: transcoding a video or running a model genuinely costs the vendor money, and metering follows from that. But that cost is a consequence of where the work runs. Browsers can decode video, run neural networks and read text out of images now. Move the work onto the device that asked for it and the cost disappears — for them and for us.

So the selection rule is simple: take tools whose paywall has no cost basis, or whose cost basis can be deleted by moving the work client-side, and give away the premium tier. Everything here is either a clean-room build or a self-hosted open-source project, run on a single machine that holds nothing else.
